In Chicago, Mindy practiced massage at Urban Oasis and also taught massage therapy at CSMT. She worked closely with her mentor, Robert King, as his personal assistant learning about research-based practices plus initiatives to advance the field of massage therapy. After leaving Chicago and spending time in Ohio, family connections drew Mindy back to Abilene. She maintains a private practice – CenterPeace Massage – and teaches massage therapy at On the Spot Massage Academy.
Mindy specializes in therapeutic massage that integrates a variety of techniques including Swedish, relaxation, deep tissue, myofascial, neuromuscular and sports. Her therapeutic work follows a holistic approach that considers how specific anatomical structures contribute to the form and function of the entire body. Each session is uniquely designed to release layers of tension, reduce pain and create a feeling of wellness.
Board Certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (BCTMB) represents the highest attainable credential within the massage therapy and bodywork profession and is a separate credential above and beyond massage therapy state licensure.
As Board Certification is voluntary, its achievement represents the highest level of commitment to clients and to the advancement of the massage therapy and bodywork profession. Board Certificants must meet higher standards of education, possess a higher level of critical thinking skills, and pass a rigorous exam. The exam requires candidates to apply assessment skills, orthopedic knowledge, applied science skills (such as pathology, pharmacology, etc.), and more to real-life scenarios in an effort to develop treatment plans that achieve positive results.
NCBTMB is the only certifying body for the massage therapy and bodywork profession. For that reason, NCBTMB’s certification processes are founded upon superior Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, to which all Board Certificants must adhere.
